“She has insulted actors and should tender an apology within 48 hours,” said veteran filmmaker L.V. Prasad, addressing a press conference here with other members of his fraternity.

Mayawati ruffled more than a few feathers Sunday at a public meeting here when she snubbed film actors planning to join politics. Though she did not name Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi, who is planning to enter Andhra Pradesh politics, she said actors could “only sing and dance”.

“Film actors don’t do social service, but can only sing and dance,” she said, making it clear that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) would not admit film actors into its fold.

Her comment came against the backdrop of reports that Chiranjeevi was planning a political party or joining hands with the BSP. His younger brother, actor Pavan Kalyan, had also reportedly met some state leaders of the BSP.

Chiranjeevi’s fans are also angry with Mayawati. His fans’ association, which is demanding an early decision by the actor, pointed out that he was already doing social service in terms of running blood banks and eye banks

According to tamil movie ‘Vel’ that was released for Diwali, the story goes like this:

The twins find themselves caught in deep frustration over their overturned lives, that is filled with a desperate longing. It is then they decide to swap places.

Vasu continues Vel’s fight against Sakkara Pandi but with a different approach. Vasu uses his brain and investigating network instead of muscle power. The rules of the game changes, and Sakkara Pandi finds himself cornered.

Hari, has lived up to his image of commercial directors in Tamil, with Vel movie having the right mix of action, sentiment, and romance. Vadivelu and Charlie are Vel and Vasu’s companions respectively and play their part well. It was supposed to be the Diwali release in telugu, but ‘Deva’ is now set to be released for the end of this month. The film has been released for Diwali in Tamil Nadu and is doing well. Surya is doing dual role in this film. Surya is playing a double role for the second time after ‘Tamil’ movie Perazhagan.

Over 20 years later, two directors are planning to remake the classic in films starring two of this year’s biggest stars — Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
In the first development, Sohail Khan is tackling the subject with brother Salman in the lead role and interestingly, the film will be titled Hello Father.
Plot outline
A few days back, Salman confirmed the project when he said, “We plan to make Hello Father with Sohail Khan as producer. We had made Hello Brother in 1999, so now the sequel will be Hello Father. The director is yet to be finalised but the plot will be on the lines of Back To The Future.”
The subject seems to have attracted the attention of director Vipul Shah as well. His project, based on the same lines, will be titled Action Replay, with Akshay Kumar playing the protagonist.

A close associate of Shah verifies, “Yes, Akshay is doing a film with Vipul, which is loosely based on the Steven Spielberg-produced Back To The Future. The film is an adaptation of a Gujarati play Action Replay which was based on Back To The Future. But the project will roll only after Akshay finishes Vipul’s Singh Is King.”

Akshay is tight-lipped about the project. He says, “Right now, we’re only focusing on Singh Is King. We haven’t finalised any other subject.”

Shelved plans

This is not the first time that Bollywood is toying with this subject. In the early ’90s, Shekhar Kapoor was doing a film with Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon and Rekha titled Time Machine, which was shelved after a few shooting spells.

“Shekhar was recently approached by UTV to do a film for them. He let them know that he would be keen on doing a film on the same script of Time Machine, but with a 2007 zing added to his original script,” informs a source at the UTV office.

So if that happens, we’ll have three versions of the same subject! Then only time will tell.

Shreya Reddy, former SS music VJ and actor, is engaged to Vishal’s elder brother and producer G.K. Reddy’s son Vikram Krishna, today in Chennai. Shreya made her debut in Vishal’s home production Thimiru in a character with negative undertones and won wide critical acclaim for her portrayal of a rustic village girl.
She also acted in an offbeat role in Veyil and is starred in the recent Thangar Pachan venture Pallikoodam.

Vikram Krishna’s brief acting stint included movies like Pooparikka Varugirom and Love marriage before he ventured into producing movies inheriting the trade from his father. The love affair has been mutually agreed upon by Shreya and Vikram’s parents and the couple’s engagement is held in Shreya Reddy’s Poes Garden residence this evening. The engagement was kept as a private affair and only close relatives were invited.

Vikram produces the Vishal - Nayantara starrer Sathyam. Shreya has been turning down the film offers her way in recent days signaling her bidding adieu from movies.

She is part of a couple of big projects which includes a movie opposite Junior NTR.

In Yamadonga, Priyamani plays Junior NTR’s heroine. Malluwood girl Mamta Mohandas is also in the cast.

She is acting in Toss opposite Raja. The movie features Kamna Jethmalani too.

Says Priyamani, “I am delighted to have won a place in both Tamil and Telugu film industry. I would concentrate on doing movies in both Tamil and Telugu.”

Though she is getting enough offers now to play a part of commercial cinema, Priyamani hopes to do at least one off-beat film a year.
