After a remake in Hindi, Bhojpuri and Sindhi, Sholay is now being made in Gujarati.
Director ‘Vikram Dodiya’, who considers Sholay a university. says, “It is impossible for a person from the film industry to be unimpressed with Sholay. I was waiting for the right actors and now I am making my own Sholay.”
The director feels a remake of Sholay will never fail to make it big at the box office. The film is being shot at a village about 55 km from Rajkot, Gujarat. Dodiya has managed to find actors who resemble the original characters from the film.
Munna Rathod and Chandan Vyas will be playing Jay and Viru respectively, while Jitendra Chauhan will play Gabbar. To make sure the Rs 30 lakh he has invested in the film doesn’t go down the drain, the director is maintaining a low profile.
He wants to avoid a tussle with the Sippys — the makers of the original Sholay — over the remake.
